Warm-up. Share the best and worst part of your week. Read 2 Kings 4:38-41. Pray God blesses your study time.

  1. Can you recall some of the similarities between Elisha’s life and ministry and that of Jesus’?

  2. Regarding God’s provision, read Psalm 37:25 and Psalm 84:11 and share how you have experienced God’s care.

  3. Have you ever felt the consequences of naively, or perhaps intentionally, compromising (watering down or adding to) God’s Word? If so, what was that like?

  4. How was the ‘flour’ that Elisha tossed into the pot with ‘death’ in it a type of Christ (Psalm 78:24; John 6:33-35, 51)? Discuss how Jesus’ life, death and resurrection has nullified the poisonous effects of sin and death in the world (Romans 5:8; Galatians 1:4; 1 Corinthians 15:55-57; Hebrews 2:14).

  5. Some people believe that God’s Word is out of date and irrelevant, and that it is legalistic and unrealistic to obediently live according to the Bible. How would you respond to them?

  6. Read and discuss how you feel about such passages as Revelation 22:18-19; Joshua 1:8 and Proverbs 3:5-8.

  7. Share about a time when holding to God’s Word, in spite of pressure to do otherwise, it kept you safe and blessed.

Pray that God’s Word is ever the truth that directs our lives both personally and as a church family to His glory and our good.
