Identified

This week in the Orchard we taught from One Big Story about the arrival of the Holy Spirit in Acts 2. We learned about how the Holy Spirit allowed the disciples to share the Gospel in many languages in Jerusalem during Pentecost. We also learned about how the power of the Holy Spirit enables us to share the Gospel throughout the world! [Acts 1:8] We will post about those two things later this week.

During our large group time we used a short video clip from the popular movie Toy Story to help explain how the Holy Spirit identifies us as belonging to Jesus. Ephesians 1:13 reads: “when you believed in Christ, he identified you as his own by giving you the Holy Spirit, whom he promised long ago.”

In the short video Buzz and Woody discuss who they belong to and Buzz realizes what his true identity is. He belongs to Andy, and has been marked by Andy. After Woody teaches this truth to Buzz and he fully understands, he is so thankful!

Just as Paul explains in Ephesians, when we believe in Jesus Christ we belong to God. When we belong to God He identifies us as his through the mark / seal / presences of the Holy Spirit in us. Incredible truth!
