HE IS the Lion & Lamb Who Conquered the Grave

Pastor Daniel is preaching the 5th message in our 2019 Easter Series, HE IS. This is Easter Sunday!

“They cast their crowns before the throne, saying, “Worthy are you, our Lord and God, to receive glory and honour and power, for you created all things, and by your will they existed and were created.” Revelation 4:10-11

Warm-up. What do you appreciate about your small group? Read John 20:1-29. Pray God blesses your fellowship / study.

  1. How did Mary first react to the empty tomb? Figuratively speaking, have you ever faced an ‘empty tomb’ of confusion and doubt? What was that like for you?

  2. Some people say that they can’t come to Jesus for new life because their faith is too small. How does knowing that our faith and salvation is a gift (Ephesians 2:8) help resolve this?

  3. Jesus tells Mary - as the first evangelist - to “go... and tell....” and she did go to the disciples saying, “I have seen the Lord!” Jesus gave her purpose. How has He given you purpose?

  4. Why were the disciples locked behind closed doors? What things are you fearful of? What did Jesus do about their fear?

  5. What kinds of conditions have you placed on God? Why do you think Jesus wanted Thomas to look at the nail prints in his hands and spear mark in his side? How did this help Thomas to overcome his doubts and fear? How does Christ’s love and sacrifice - as seen in His wounds - help us drop our excuses?

Pray that God will help us to joyfully share these Easter gifts of faith, new life, and peace with those around us who have not yet experienced them, and to daily look to the wounds of Christ as a reminder of His ever present love and power in our lives. Amen!
