Reflect and Discuss
Warm-up. How do wisdom and faith go together in these uncertain and tumultuous days of COVID-19? Read Mark 2:1-12 Ask God to bless your study & fellowship.
In General Jackson’s request for a bridge to be built, do you identify more with the wagon master or the engineers when it comes to evangelism?
The men pushed through the crowd, climbed up to the roof and tore through it to ensure their friend received Jesus’ love and healing. Has God used similar people for you? If so, share how God worked in and through them to bring you to Christ.
How did Jesus evaluate the faith of the paralytic and his friends? (Mark 2:5) What were the Scribes so shocked about? (Mark 2:6-7)
How did Jesus respond to the Scribes’ thoughts? (Mark 2:8-9) How did Jesus show that he had authority to forgive sins? (Mark 2:9)
What was so important about Jesus forgiving the man’s sins before healing him physically? What does God require or not require to forgive us of our sins?
What does this story tell you is the difference between true spirituality and counterfeit spirituality? What is one paralysis in your life from which you want Jesus to release you?
Following the example of the paralytic’s friends, how could you go out of your way to help bring to Jesus?
