1. Why is truthfulness important not only in the courtroom, but in all of life? Why can there be no godliness without truthfulness?

2. How is motive a factor in breaking or keeping the ninth commandment? Give some specific examples.

3. In what ways does the breaking of the ninth commandment not only harm a person’s reputation but the whole community?

4. How did Jesus enhance our understanding of the prohibition of ninth commandment in Matthew 5:33-37?

5. Read Proverbs 18:17 and discuss what it means. Why do you think that failing to heed this wisdom is especially prominent in our misunderstandings and in the world of social media?

6. What situations are most likely to trigger you to misuse the name of your neighbour? How could you change your typical response, both your heart response and your verbal response?
