Warm-up. What’s your favourite outdoor activity?

Read: Matthew 6:5-8; 16-18. Ask God to bless your study.

1. What thoughts come to mind when you hear the word "prayer"? Did prayer play a role in your family’s life growing up?

2. Why is prayer one of the most natural activities that we can do? How does one’s view of God affect one’s prayer life?

3. What does praying in Jesus’ name have to do with access to God’s presence (John 14:6; Eph 2:18; Hebrews 10:19-22)?

4. How is the Holy Trinity involved in our prayers?

5. What were the dangers regarding giving, prayer, and fasting, that Jesus warned us about in Matthew chapter six? What is a hypocrite, and how can you avoid being one?

6. How is Jesus’ teaching on fasting (6:16-18) similar to His teaching on prayer (6:5-15)? Why should we fast?
