In this message Pastor Daniel preaches the sixth part of our series in Ephesians 6:10-20 on the Armour of God. This week is about the Sword of the Spirit.

Warm-up. Share a favourite (life) verse of scripture.

Pray God blesses your fellowship and study time together.

  1. Paul describes the Christian’s complete armour (vv 14-17) and tells us twice to put it on. What does it mean to practically put it on? What would it look like if you neglected to put it on?

  2. Read 2 Timothy 3:16-17 and discuss why God’s Word here in Ephesians 6 is called the ‘Sword of the Spirit’. How does this explain the source of it’s power, trustworthiness, effectiveness?

  3. Read Isaiah 55:10-11; 2 Timothy 4:2-4; James 1:18; 1 Peter 1:23; Hebrews 4:12; Matthew 4:1-11; Acts 23:1-5 and highlight some of the purposes of God’s Word - the Sword of the Spirit, that are seen to be accomplished in these Scriptures.

  4. How can Jesus’ words in John 17:17 apply to you daily? Share about a time when you used the Spirit’s Sword defensively and/or offensively to route the Evil One?

  5. Which of the prioritized points in the P.O.W.E.R. acronym do you find the easiest to do, and which do you find the hardest to do, in approaching God’s Word?
