Warm-up. What was the worst and best part of your week? Pray God blesses your study time together.

  1. Should every Christian put God’s vision and his work first, or is this just for “full-time” Christian workers? Share your response biblically.

  2. Does God want Christians to excel in their careers? If so, why? How can a Christian succeed in a career if she puts God’s work first?

  3. What excuse did they make for not doing the work of the Lord (Haggai 1:2)? Discuss similar excuses we make today. What did God mean when he told them to, “Consider their ways” (Haggai 1:5, 7)?

  4. In Haggai 1:2-11 what was God doing to get their attention? How has God gotten your attention when you’ve drifted from his will?

  5. How are you spending your (God’s) resources? Those in Haggai’s day had plenty of time for themselves, but they didn’t have time or money for God. How does your use of time and money reflect your devotion to Christ?

  6. What are your goals? What is your vision? At the end of your life, what do you want to look back on as your achievements?

Pray that God will continue to sharpen his vision for us so that we will be emboldened to live it out for his glory and our good.
