Warm-up. How are the powerful treated in our society? Why are we typically afraid to disclose our weaknesses to each other?

Read 2 Corinthians 12:1-10. Ask God to bless your study.

  1. Share some reasons why it’s so important to know who Jesus really is and what he promises.

  2. Why did Paul tell the Corinthians about his vision, despite his reluctance? What happened during the revelation Paul described? Why didn’t Paul become conceited? Why is it unhealthy to always be boasting about spiritual experiences?

  3. What does the state (or degree) of our discouragement say about our spiritual maturity or immaturity? (Hint: The problem of always being discouraged or never being discouraged.)

  4. What was Paul’s response to his "thorn"? What are some weaknesses or afflictions that you find difficult to live with? What can we learn from Paul’s example about dealing with physical discomfort or hardship?

  5. What weaknesses or thorns in your life is God able to use? In what area of your life do you want to rely more on God’s strength and power, rather than your own?

We are truly “Better (and Stronger) Together.” So, seek to encourage one another, carry one another’s burdens and pray for one another and so fulfill the law of Christ (Galatians 6:2).
