Reset [Part 3] Relate

Pastor Daniel Cormier leads as our all our pastors take part in part 3 in our new RESET series. This week’s message is entitled “Relate”.

In prayerfully planning and preparing this new RESET series, Pastor Daniel notes, "This time of social distancing, isolation and self quarantine has caused many to reflect on just how over-loaded, over-worked, and over-stressed we have increasingly become. Incredibly, as this global shut down has the world’s attention hopefully many hear the gracious voice that says, “Be still and know that I am God.”  And with this realization, we too can reevaluate our lives and take the opportunity to make some changes so that we don’t go back to a frantic pace of life as before. It’s time for a RESET. Together in God’s Word and in prayer through this new series we will learn wiser ways to a more fruitful pace of life moving forward."

II. YOUR RELATIONSHIP WITH SPOUSE
III. YOUR RELATIONSHIP WITH CHILDREN
IV. YOUR RELATIONSHIP WITH FRIENDS
V. YOUR RELATIONSHIP WITH CHURCH FAMILY

Discussion

Warm-up. Are you more introverted or extroverted? How does this affect how you do relationships? Read Romans 12:9-21. Ask God to bless your study.

  1. Share some of the things you do to daily draw close to God.

  2. The Apostle Paul says that Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her. When Paul states in Ephesians 5:21, “...submitting to one another out of reverence for Christ.”, what are two ways spouses can practice this kind of love?

  3. What specific parental pressures have you felt raising your children? Where did these pressures come from? How have you applied Deuteronomy 6:5-7 to your parenting?

  4. Read 1 Corinthians 7:6. How has God brought friends into your life to help comfort you? Define friendship?

  5. How has time in a small group or in a mentoring relationship helped you to love God and others better?

  6. When it comes to relationships, C.S. Lewis said, “To love you as I should, I must worship God as Creator. When I have learnt to love God better than my earthly dearest, I shall love my earthly dearest better than I do now.” In what ways has this been true in your life?
