Warm-up. What colour describes your week? Why?

Read Galatians 2:11-21 Ask God to bless your study.

1. What did Peter do that made Paul angry (2:11-12)?

2. Why did Paul call the behaviour of the Jewish believers who withdrew from the Gentiles “hypocrisy” (2:13-16)? How did Peter get “out of step with the truth of the gospel” and what was at the root of his prejudice and racism?

3. Explain how the Apostle Paul’s order of the gospel is correct (believe, be saved, then obey) as opposed to the Jerusalem teachers (believe, obey, then be saved).

4. How does Christ’s death make a believer dead to the Law? What are some other implications of your death with Christ (see Romans 6:1-14; 7:1-6; 2 Corinthians 5:14-15; Col 3:1-5)?

5. If obeying rules isn’t what makes God accept us, what keeps us from sinning flagrantly? How does our dying and new life (see 2:17-20) prevent this?

6. What practical difference does it make that you have been crucified with Christ (see 2:20)? How does having Christ’s life within you affect you in practical ways?

7. Share an example of you being out of step with the gospel. How can you be in step with the truth of the gospel every day?
