Reflection & Discussion
Warm-up. What are your favourite Easter traditions?
Read Isaiah 42:1-9 Ask God to bless your study.
1. How is the spread of Christ’s kingdom so different and paradoxical from the way human empires are built?
2. What is the significance of the term “servant” (Isa 42:1)?
3. How does this Servant King deal with the hurting in v. 3?
4. See Matthew 11:28-29; 12:15-21; Luke 8:43-48; John 4:4-42; 8:3-11 and discuss how Jesus fulfilled Isaiah 42:3?
5. How is Jesus’ being crushed and bruised the ultimate healing for us (Genesis 3:15, Isaiah 53:5)?
6. When you are feeling crushed and bruised share how Jesus brings renewal and healing to your soul.
Prayerfully consider some ways through Christ that you can bring others hope and encouragement this week.
