Warm-up. Share some hopes for the summer.
Read Matthew 12:22-32 Ask God to bless your study.
1. What did Jesus do for the man brought to him (v. 22)? What question did Jesus’ actions prompt among the people?
2. To whom did the Pharisees ascribe Jesus’ power (v. 24)? Why is it impossible for Satan to drive out the demons, according to Jesus (vv. 25-27)?
3. Jesus clearly stated that every person must make a decision. What sort of decision is he referring to (v. 30)?
4. What kinds of sins will be forgiven and which one will not be and why (vv. 31-32)?
5. Why is it we are so prone to be blind to our need to repent?
6. How does a religious desire to work hard and be good to earn God’s favour manifest itself in your own life?
7. How would you counsel someone who feared that they had committed the unpardonable sin?
8. Some preachers and teachers emphasize moral lessons only. How does an emphasis on the person of Christ as we see in Matthew 12 help correct such an approach?
