Warm-up. What do you like most/least about Sept.?

Read Romans 12:1-8 Ask God to bless your study.

1. What motivation does Paul give in verse one for the hard work of sacrificial living? Why is our motive for serving God crucial? What can happen when our motives are wrong?

2. How do we worship Christ in vv. 1-2? Why is this rightful understanding of worship both exciting and challenging?

3. How can our minds be renewed? What must God do? How do we cooperate? (See Romans 8:5, 9, 12-13; 2 Corinthians 3:18; Ephesians 3:14-21; 4:22-24; 5:1; 2 Timothy 3:16; Luke 11:13; Psalm 1:1-3; 119:11.)

4. According to verse two, what must happen in order for us to discern and agree with God’s will? Share how you apply this.

5. Name one aspect of “this world” that is currently tempting you to conform to it. How do you resist worldly temptations?

6. None of us deserve God’s love, yet all of us are completely loved by him through Christ’s life, death, and resurrection. How does this help us understand what it means to think of ourselves “with sober judgment” (v. 3)?

7. How else should we view ourselves (vv. 5-6a)? In light of vv. 6b-8 how have you grown and matured in following Jesus because of the gifts of other believers in the body of Christ? In what ways are you presently sharing your gifts?
