Reflection & Discussion
Warm-up. What friend quality do you appreciate most?
Ask God to bless your study.
1. Read Matthew 1:18-25 and share how you might have reacted if you were in Joseph’s sandals. What things make you most anxious?
2. Joseph displayed conviction and compassion in a difficult situation. In what way are you feeling anxious and worried? What shortcuts are you tempted to take to get peace? How can you display calm trust in God in a way that sets you apart in your school, at your workplace, and in your home?
3. Joseph obeyed immediately. When he heard the voice of God, he moved. God may not be speaking to you in an audible voice or through an angel, but he does speak to us through his Word. What promises of God help you to obey his Word?
4. How did Joseph overcome his fear of his reputation being ruined? In what way is God calling you to sacrifice personal comfort and loss of reputation for the sake of others in your care and for the cause of Christ?
5. Joseph took spiritual responsibility for his family seriously. In what ways is God calling you to spiritually care for your family? In what ways does God want you to trust and obey him and model godliness and maturity?
