Warm-up. What job would you be terrible at?

Read: Matthew 6:12. Ask God to bless your study.

1. On a scale of 1 to 10, how forgiving are you (1 = “one strike and you’re out,” and 10 = “forgiving is as easy as breathing”)?

2. How are debts and trespasses defined differently?

3. How does sin harm our relationship with God and others?

4. Why do we need to keep confessing sins after becoming a Christian? How does having God as our Father help us in this?

5. What is the condition in this petition? Why do you think Jesus, as seen in Matthew 5:7; 6:14-15, was so adamant about this?

6. Read Colossians 3:12-13, Ephesians 4:32, and Matthew 18:21-35. Discuss how these passages help us to see that as God has first forgiven us, we are to forgive one another.

7. Why might an unforgiving person be an unforgiven person?

8. Share what you believe forgiveness is and what it is not. How can you keep God’s forgiving grace daily flowing from you to others when they sin against you?
