Reflection & Discussion

Warm-up. What do you like most about fall season?

Read: Psalm 139:23-24. Ask God to bless your study.

1. Read Amos 7:7-8. What thoughts come to mind in contemplating God holding a plumb line next to your life?

2. Look up Proverbs 21:2, 1 Samuel 16:7, and Hebrews 4:12-13 and discuss how God and his Word examines each of us?

3. How often would you say that you have prayed David’s prayer in Psalm 139:23-24? If you have prayed like this (or you do pray like this) what’s the effect on your walk with God?

4. H.B. Charles said, “The things you pray about are the things you trust God to handle, and the things you neglect to pray about are the things you trust you can handle on your own.” What do you think he means by this? Can you relate?

5. Some religions pray to gods, some to ancestors, some to nature, and some to the universe, but Christians pray differently and confidently for we pray to a Father (Rom 8:15; Ephesians 1:4-6). What difference does this truth make to your prayer life?

6. Oswald Chambers said, “We have to pray with our eyes on God, not on the difficulties.” Do you agree? Why or why not?

7. Have you seriously interceded in prayer for someone? What was the situation that moved you to pray?

Take time to pray/intercede for your friends, relatives, neighbours, church, nation, or others to come to Jesus.
